Two men were arrested Wednesday in the investigation of a fatal shooting at a downtown club.
Orlando police arrested 23-year-old Donald Henry Jr. and 24-year-old Tavaris Jerome Bentley in the Whiskey River shooting, which occurred on Sunday around 2 a.m. in the 200 block of North Orange Blossom Trail.
The victim was identified as Thomas McCrimon, 21, who was about three weeks away from his 22nd birthday.
Investigators said an officer at the scene was nearly run over by the getaway vehicle.
“The suspect vehicle immediately accelerated toward the officer. The officer was forced to draw his service weapon and fired. The suspect vehicle sped off at a high rate of speed, and the officer was able to avoid being struck and was not injured,” Orlando Police Department Sgt. Jim Young said.
The officer who fired the shot was identified as Robert Shellhorn, 43, who has worked with the agency for about 10 years.

Henry was charged with first-degree murder. Police said he ran from the scene.
Bentley was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder of a law enforcement official and aggravated fleeing and eluding. Police said Bentley was driving Sunday night and attempted to run over a police officer before speeding away from the shooting.
Detectives found and arrested the men in Kissimmee. They were booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday night.
