Suspect steals patrol vehicle while handcuffed

Otero, Co. – Colorado State Patrol responded to a fleeing suspect along Highway 50, in Otero County to assist Otero County Deputies.
The troopers stopped the vehicle and detained the suspect in a marked Colorado State Patrol vehicle.
While handcuffed, the suspect stole the patrol vehicle he was in and a pursuit occurred. The patrol vehicle the suspect was driving was immobilized by use of stop sticks and crashed into a semi-truck. The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital.
